BRENDA J WATSON, A MIXED-MEDIA ARTIST

The media that I use include pencil, oil, acrylic, and photography. My work is inspired by human experiences and nature. The art that I create mostly happens in my New York City and Martha's Vineyard studios, but it is primarily shown on the Vineyard.

Although I am primarily a self-taught artist, I have enhanced my skills with formal training in drawing, photography, water color,etc. 

Most of my acrylic paintings are done on clay. They are drawn and painted just as paintings are done on canvas or paper.  However, when my artwork is finished, the clay is fired. This website includes a separate link with more details describing my work with acrylics as well as examples of my work. 

Photography, paintings, and drawings that are created on canvas and/or paper are also included.

During the summer, I participant in a number of art events on Martha's Vineyard including: the African American Cultural Festival--where a full array of my work is usually on display for two days at the end of July, and sometimes in the juried All-island Art Show which is held annually on the first Monday in August;  and the Featherstone Flea and Fine Arts Market which is held every Tuesday during the summer.
